Have you ever found yourself wasting time on small, repetitive tasks that you know could be automated, but haven't gotten around to fixing?

Last week, I had one of those *gasp* I-have-an-idea moments while preparing client invoices.

For each month on my client project, I've been manually naming each invoice document with the date (2025-03 March), updating the date property separately, and then sorting everything chronologically.

It was death by a thousand paper cuts.

So I built a simple solution in Notion that I want to share with you:

Renaming Pages System

Here's what I did:

1. Created a "Date" property in my invoice database
2. Added an automation to automatically take the "Date" property and to format it into year and month (if I want it to look like 2025-03 March then I would put "YYYY-MM MMMM")
3. Set my view to sort by date

Now when I need to create a new invoice, I just:

• Create a new database item
• Update the date property
• The name will be updated automatically with the right format!

Why This Tiny Change Matters

As professionals, our mental bandwidth is precious. Every minute spent on repetitive administrative tasks is a minute not spent doing meaningful work for our clients.

This small automation:

• Saves me 2-3 minutes per invoice
• Creates consistent naming conventions
• Eliminates sorting headaches
• Reduces the mental drain of administrative work
